It was a good day in the office for coach Matt Leisching and his camp at MadFit Boxing this past Saturday night.
Two of his fighters, Caleigh Swart and Dean Promnick won in fine fashion at the boxing extravaganza organised by African Pride Fighting Championships and Insane Boxing Promotion, at Hope Street Hall.
Headlining the event, Swart beat Zimbabwe’s Pamela Matunga on points in their junior featherweight bout.
Arguably the more conditioned fighter on the night, Swart got the better of her opponent, from 365 Boxing Gym, winning on points.
Matunga had a chance to cause an upset for the home favourite, but her stamina let her down at a crucial moment in the fight.
With the judges scoring it in favour of Swart, she now moves to three fights and three wins, with her eye on the provinicial, national and international titles.
Her gym partner, Dean Promnick on the other hand, knocked out Khodani ‘SeaNation’ Nephalana from A-Z Boxing Academy, in the middleweight division.
