Hugo Broos has named his preliminary Bafana Bafana squad for this month’s World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin — and among the notable inclusions is Tshegofatso Mabasa, whose recent form has earned him a potential return to the national team.
There was also a return to the team for in-form Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Jayden Adams, who was absent from the team over the last two international breaks due to a disciplinary issue.
Since his Bafana exile, Adams has moved from Stellenbosch FC to Betway Premiership kings Sundowns, and cemented his place as one of the most exciting and naturally gifted players in the country.
Percy Tau, currently playing his football in Qatar for Qatar SC, has also been included in the squad. Tau had previously asked to be left out of the sqaud over the last couple of months as he dealt with his situation at Al Ahly in Egypt.

The squad also features a number of new faces like Orlando Pirates’ Deano Van Rooyen, Sekhukhune United’s Siphesihle Mkhize, and the TS Galaxy duo of Khulumani Ndamane and Samukelo Kabini.
There was no place in the squad for Shandre Campbell, the 19-year-old senation who has been making a name for himself at Club Brugge in Belgium. Bongokuhle Hlongwane, who playes for Minnesota United in the United States, has also been left out.
