Aspiring professional boxers will have a chance to take a major step in their careers when Boxing SA hosts a sparring and assessment session at Grassroots Boxing Academy in Makhaza, Khayelitsha on Saturday February 14.
The Valentine’s Day event invites amateur fighters aged 18–35 to step into the ring and be tested as they pursue their dream of turning professional.
The session follows a pathway already walked by champions such as WBC Youth world titleholder Khaya Mlata and current IBO Africa female champion Simamkele Tutsheni, who is set to travel to Poland in March for a world title fight.
Their journeys highlight what can be achieved through dedication, discipline and the right opportunities.
With Valentine’s Day known as a celebration of love, organisers of the event are about showing love for the sport of boxing and the courage it takes to chase a boxing dream.
Instead of roses and chocolates, fighters will be bringing gloves, grit and guts as they look to prove themselves.
Boxers are reminded to bring all required medical documents and a copy of their ID for verification on the day.
The sparring session promises to be an important stepping stone for those ready to fight for a future in the professional ranks.
