Green Point Salesian AFC kept their under-19 Bayhill Premier Cup dream alive with a composed 2–0 victory over Phuhla FC at the weekend, as the latest round of play-offs unfolded at the Langa Sports Complex.
The win ensured that Salesians remain in contention to be among the 32 teams competing in one of the country’s most prestigious youth football tournaments over the Easter weekend.
With only two play-off rounds remaining before the tournament proper, the stakes continue to rise as teams battle for the final available spots.
Green Point Salesian will now turn its focus to the upcoming knockout phase, knowing that another strong performance could take it a step closer to the coveted round-robin stage. It is at that stage where 12 teams will secure qualification for the main tournament.
Those successful sides will then join the 20 teams that have already booked their places in the Bayhill Premier Cup, setting the stage for a highly competitive football spectacle.
With momentum on their side, Green Point will be aiming to build on this result and keep their Premier Cup hopes firmly on track.
