Fight Island is a vibe that a lot of fighters want to be part of, putting on a show in front of the right people, with the right energy.

That sentiment is shared by 26-year-old Josh Cloete, a former kickboxing star turned boxer.

Cloete will be on the card for the next instalment of Fight Island on Saturday, October 25.

It will be his first time lacing up gloves at the Cabo Beach venue, a seaside place that is quickly becoming a boxing mecca for the Cape.

At the helm is Matt Leisching, who is steadily building the Fight Island brand into something serious.

With fighters under his ML Boxing promotion and in partnership with Insane Boxing, Leisching is making sure his boxers get maximum exposure. It's something that should be generating solid payoffs, especially for those still on the rise.

What’s even juicier about the Fight Island events is Leisching’s partnership with Rodney Berman, where fighters from these cards also get an opportunity to appear on Golden Gloves promotions, the top tier of boxing shows in the country.

Cloete says he can barely wait for his debut at the venue, as it has already proven to be full of action and energy. The goal for him is simple: to stamp his authority at the buzzing seaside venue.

“They always showcase good fighters, so it really is a privilege to be on this card as well,” said Cloete.

The former South African kickboxing champion is still undefeated in the boxing ring, with four wins and a draw to his name.

His last fight was back in May in Johannesburg, where he secured a sixth-round stoppage victory.

Josh said that, as excited as he is about his next outing, the approach is always about making the right moves. He and his team have to be strategic, not fighting just for the sake of it.

That’s exactly why this particular card made sense for the Kenilworth-based pugilist.

“It goes the same with me, too; everyone wants to make it big. Me and ny team are still trying to map out how to get there without rushing the process. We want to move, but move correctly and not waste time with silly mistakes. That goes for picking the right fights, in the right events,” said Cloete.
