If there’s one thing SK Walmer is content with doing this season in Super League A, it’s ensuring they score the points.
That approach may not always serve them well, as the attacking intent has often left holes at the back when judging the game as a whole.
Scoring a lot of points while conceding around the same amount often costs sides precious results. But one thing is certain for SK Walmer: they are exploiting their offensive game to the max.

Take this past weekend’s clash with UWC. Walmers ran in six tries on their way to a 44–29 win, marking their third victory in eight outings. A week ago, they had again scored six tries against False Bay RFC, only to fall short in a 43–34 defeat.
Even in a tight loss to southern suburbs heavyweights, UCT, they put 31 points on the board, only to be outscored by five. Astonishingly, they’ve surpassed the 20-point mark in every fixture this season except one, a strong sign of their upward trajectory.
Their real challenge remains tightening up defensively. Should they get to shut the door in their own half, upsets could be on the horizon.

Their high-scoring hammering of Uni-Mill, 40–31, demonstrated just how damaging their attack can be when fully unleashed.
On Saturday against UWC, it was Moegamat Kannemeyer and Heinrico Hartogh who crossed for two tries each, while Rayaan Solomons added further value with the boot, converting four of the six tries and slotting over two penalties.
Roland van der Heever and Shaheem Ismail were the other try scorers for Walmers. What made the win even sweeter was Walmers went into half-time trailing 29–25, only to produce a dominant second-half display by adding 19 unanswered points and sealing the victory.

This Bo‑Kaap-based outfit now has an opportunity to kickstart a winning streak when they host Brackenfell this Saturday. Brackenfell, too, has experienced a mixed campaign so far, claiming three wins in eight outings.
If Walmers can channel their attacking prowess while maintaining defensive discipline, they’ll be well placed to cement their status in the Super League A table.
