Avendale Cricket Club ready for Gugs action

Avendale Cricket Club and Gugulethu Cricket Club’s meeting this coming Saturday promises to be nothing short of a blockbuster when the two sides battle it out for eighth spot in the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) First Division 1A standings.

Both teams suffered defeats at the weekend. The side from Athlone lost to Pinelands by four wickets on Saturday. On Sunday, they lost by 99 runs to a big hitting United Cricket Club. Avendale are on 20 points after winning four of their 14 games played in the campaign.

The side from NY49 sports complex in Gugulethu are sitting four points behind Avendale, after winning three of their 13 games. Over the past weekend, they lost to United Cricket Club by four wickets.

Avendale will host Gugulethu in Athlone on Saturday, January 27.
