All the action from round four of Bayhill play-offs

More than 84 teams from across the city took part in round four of the Bayhill under-19 Premier Cup play-offs at the William Herbert sports complex in Wynberg on Saturday and Sunday, January 20 and 21.

On Saturday morning, Northpine Football Club continued their winning streak with a 3-0 win over Kewton United to advanced into round five.

Ocean View sealed a one goal victory over Delft Spurs. Premier United won 4-2 against Samora Celtics Academy. Maitland’s Saxon Rovers put four unanswered goals past Aberdeen Soccer Club to advance into the next round.

Athlone’s SSS Academy were 1-0 victors over YSD Macassar FC. Valhalla were 2-1 winners when they battled it out against Lansdowne FC on field B. City Mission Education Services (CMES) Academy beat Willow Spurs 2-1 to seal their spot in the next round. Young Bafana were dominant over Kensington, winning 3-0.

Ulana Academy and Belhar Spurs stuck it out to a 1-1 draw that forced them to settle it out on penalties. The side from Mandalay won 3-2. On the B field, Wanderers put two past Cape Town Swallows for a big win. Manenberg Sporting Academy won 2-0 against De Novo United. Westridge United, by default, advanced on to the next round (Kapa Celtic cancelled).

Barca Juniors from Samora were too good for Ikapa Sporting on the day, winning 5-0. On the B field, Salt River Blackpool came back from a 3-0 deficit to win 4-3 against Macassar FC. Their neighbours, Salt River Celtics also won 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw.

Hout Bay United FC were arguably one of the most skilful teams in the play-offs. The side beat Pro Stars 2-0.

Jomo’s Powers won 6-0 over Liverpool Portland FC. First National Rangers St Agnes FC won 4-3 on penalties after a goalless draw against Invincible Cravenby. Masithandane scored two late goals to win 2-0 against Wolverhampton FC. Junction Rovers were 2-1 victors against Philippi’s Joburg Strikers.

Match 21 was a nail-biting battle between Maties and Inter Africa Football Academy. Maties won 1-0. Tafelzucht were 13-12 winners after their penalty shoot over City Kings after a nil-nil scoreline in the late afternoon.

Rygersdal and Rock-A-Fellas FC had one of the best games of the day. The results, however, went in the way of Rygersdal following their two goals. City Bombers won 1-0 against Hazendal AFC.

On Sunday, the crowd made their way early to Wynberg to kickstart the remainder of the play-offs. Fixture 25 saw Ravensmead win 2-1 against Chelsea AFC on field A. Playing in front of their home crowd, Clarewood AFC battled it out to a 1-0 win over Training 4 Changes. Hanover Park beat Lavender Hill 2-0 on field C.

It was a long day in the office for Manchester FC, Antalyaspor Cape Town put eight goals past them to close off the 9am fixtures on Sunday.

Ubuntu Football Academy won 2-0 against Avendale Athletic FC. Lansure United won 4-1 on penalties after a 1-1 draw against Riverside Rangers. Stephanians Ottery were 2-1 victors over Atletico Nacional FC. Everton FC, from Nyanga, won 4-1 on penalties after a 0-0 draw against Young Cosmos.

Robinvale Spurs, from Atlantis, won 3-1 against Oasis FC.

Napoli and FC Kapstadt played some of the best football of the weekend, ending full-time on 1-1. Kapstadt won 4-3 on penalties.

Santos and Edgemead, too, displayed excellent football on field C. Edgemead came back from a goal to score the equaliser in the dying minutes of the game. The Peoples Team, however, won 4-3 on penalties. Eyethu Academy has arguably one of the best defences, they won 3-1 against an attacking FC Cafda at 11.45am.

Khayelitsha’s Goal Hunters were defeated on a 2-1 goal line by Elsies River United. Liverpool FC won 2-1 against Juventus AFC. Grove Academy won 4-2 on penalties following 1-1 stalemate against Cedar Park United. Ashford AFC won 1-0 against Bluegum United.

Dunoon Sporting Academy were unfortunately knocked out on a 4-3 scoreline following their goalles draw against Khayelitsha’s Rebels FC. Eagles Performance Academy were 4-2 winners following a 1-1 win over Mitchell’s Plain’s Stanturf FC.

Round five of the play-offs will take place at the William Herbert sports complex this coming weekend, Saturday and Sunday, January 27 and 28.
