GoalMOUTH is a weekly column that places the spotlight on various sporting codes, tackling the brutal truth and chasing those who try to evade a bit of banter… And it’s all about the banter!
After eight games and only winning one versus Brentford, Manchester United owners have had enough and sent Erik Ten Hag packing after three years in charge.
Now lets try and maintain some kind of respect, simply because he did win two trophies in his time, but honestly speaking, he has broken more bad records than any other coach to have succeeded the great Sir Alex Ferguson.
Erik stepped into Manchester United wanting to make the change and become the difference, but first thing he did wrong was try and force the Ajax structure from the Netherlands onto an English club. A great English club, that you have now further destroyed.
His last statement: “We are improving game by game.” I nearly choked on my Nik Naks reading that, because as a coach, working so closely with a failing structure, don’t say things we need to hear, but rather do things to make us see.
GoalMOUTH for one is very happy to see the back of Erik, never happy to see somebody lose their job and I wish him well for the future, but I simply cannot forgive you for what you have done to this amazing club.
The players are largely to blame as well, but at the same time, these are the very players Erik brought into the club, one of which showing slight glimpses of improvement.
Manchester United has lost that sense of winning, that determination to be great and that desire for glory. A series of incorrect coaching appointments, made by a clueless bunch of American football owners, has brought a great club to their knees.
With Erik packed up and gone, question now is who takes over?
Ruben Amorin? Zidane? Xavi Hernandez? And I praying this not true, but even the boring Gareth Southgate might come back and haunt me.
A few back, GoalMOUTH really tore into Gareth for his woeful performances at the last Euros — where he nearly silenced the crowd. Now this man might coach my beloved Manchester United and I could not be any more sad.
At the helm, running the team at the moment is the legendary Dutchman, Ruud van Nistelrooy, who had a successful stint with PSV and was brought on board by the now sacked Erik Ten Hag as his assistant.
But van Nistelrooy has already stated his desire to move on and is happy to remain in place on a interim basis.
With Leicester in the Carling Cup and Chelsea on the weekend, Manchester United should get the Ruben Amorin deal from Sporting Lisbon over the line.
I am actually hoping the INEOS Group somehow stumbled upon this link and is reading this, please sign him.
Ruben Amorin, one of the most sought after coaches in the World at the moment, doing amazing things with Sporting Lisbon and is also tipped to succeed Pep Guardiola at Manchester City one day.
A coach with such huge credentials and that is available should be snapped up immediately, but not at Manchester United unfortunately, who has lost out on so many huge deals in the past.
Thomas Tuchel was probably the best suited manager out there to take over the hotseat, but England were smarter, snapped him and unveiled him as the new England manager, leaving the Manchester United board once again staring at each other.
One thing is for sure, whoever the next manager is, they have their work cut out for them and when they return this club back to its place of glory, it will be the biggest overhaul ever from a coach — Sir Alex levels.
Let’s get strapped in for yet another ride. The haters such as the Liverfoolers are enjoying our pain, but remember one thing… a wounded animal is the most dangerous and we are not wounded at the moment, we are torn to pieces and when you put pieces together, you might sit with a freakish Frakenstein that can take over the Premier League.
GoalMOUTH been watching loads of movies as Manchester United games are boring, so excuse the imagination.
