GoalMOUTH is a weekly feature placing the spotlight on various sporting codes, tackling the brutal truth and chasing their rivals — those who try to evade a bit of banter… It’s all about the banter!
So the All Blacks were in town and people made this big fuss about them possibly coming to do some damage in the land of the greats.
Before I proceed, with four World Cups, back-to-back, a Freedom Cup and incoming Castle Rugby Championships, do these guys still not get it?
It’s the first time the Springboks have beaten you four times in a row in three different countries during three different competitions. Should we also start pulling out the stats as to when the last time you beat us?
Let’s put the focus back on Rassie and the boys, who brought so much hope back to a country that was slowly losing it. The team showed why we needed to pull together and be as one, because as individuals, we were really nothing.
Springbok rugby has so much depth at the moment, I am sure if I started training now, perhaps next week I would get the call up. Okay, that’s dreaming, but I guess the point I am trying to make is that anybody can play for the Springboks if your heart and mind is there.
I have seen jersey being thrown in fires, people joining the green army and giving up their All Black loyalty, but why now? The trophies? The constant losing?
Anyway, lets be proud they have seen the light and hopefully we hold onto these supporters and they don’t go leaving us behind when the going gets tough.
With the All Blacks out of the way, the showdown is now between the dark horse of the competition, Argentina and the Sprinboks.
Poor Wallabies felt the wrath of the Argentinians this past weekend, coming back from a good old 17 points. Now the Wallabies are crying for a new coach, cry for a new team, babies! LOL.
When will Australia learn, the harder they try, the harder they fall and it’s so entertaining for the World. Time and time again, they stumble upon a good player and within minutes, he becomes as good as the grass that gets played on.
The last two games will be entertaining though, especially as the Springboks only need a point and Rassie already sent the team over to compete.
I love how suspicious we are and secretive about things, and every coach right now wants to figure that out.
South African rugby is in good hands for the next few years and we really look set to become the fifth time World Champions, making it three in a row. GoalMOUTH can dream and so can you, but if you are a New Zealander, boo hoo!
