For some time now I have been writing to MyCiTi about the poor state of the buses for disabled people, but to no avail.
If you, for example, use a walking aid, there is not a single bus on the Oranjezicht/Vredehoek line that has the ramp working so that the disabled can wheel their aid onto or off a bus. I am pretty sure that a similar situation exists on most other lines.
I can say with absolute certainty, this City does not work for me. Not even a letter to the mayor has helped.

The MyCiTi bus service is designed to be universally accessible, meaning the service also caters for commuters with special needs, such as those in wheelchairs. The buses also have allocated space for wheelchairs with special belts to secure the wheelchairs while the bus is moving.
Furthermore, all bus drivers are instructed to always deploy the ramps for wheelchairs at stops and stations when required to do so.
I want to ask commuters who observe instances where ramps are not being deployed to please contact the City’s Transport Information Centre on 0800 65 64 63 and to report the bus number, the date, time, and place so that we can investigate the matter.
I want to assure Mr Myerson that a City official will contact him directly for further details regarding this incident.
