Three unlicensed firearms were seized in Sea Point last week during a police operation.
According to Captain Elizabeth Munro, communications officer at Sea Point police station: “While busy with a vehicle control point at High Level Road and Ocean View Drive, Green Point, on Saturday October 15, Constable Lonwabo Mbusi pulled over a black VW Golf with two men inside. He searched the vehicle and found an unlicensed fire-arm loaded with seven rounds, and two ecstasy tablets. The men were arrested on possession of a firearm without licence; possession of ammunition without licence; possession of dagga; possession of drugs.”
They appeared in Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday October 17.
Two unlicensed firearms were also seized in Sea Point area due to the quick response of SAPS officers.
Meanwhile on Monday October 17 an arrest was made after a small business owner was found to have faked a robbery.
Police reported that a complainant reported a business robbery which had taken place on Sunday September 10, at 3am. “Detective Sergeant Lee Williams investigated this case, and received video footage from the owner of the business where the robbery took place. Detective Sergeant Lee Williams confronted the complainant, as the video footage showed that the robbery happened at 10am and not at 3am, as the complainant claimed,” said Captain Munro.
After questioning the complainant on this conflicting evidence, he admitted to having lied under oath. He was arrested on Monday October 17.
