Peter Schoonraad, Camps Bay
I refer to the letter by Graham Sonnenberg (“Unfinished bridges ‘an urban myth,’” Atlantic Sun, August 18) regarding the unfinished bridge on the foreshore.
Memory tends to fade with the passage of time and the logical approach to establish why the bridges were not completed could be to consult the minutes of the Council meetings of some 40 years ago.
That put to rest the so-called urban legend.
Of course, the completion of the bridge now would require a vast amount of money and a huge strain on the City’s finances.
In addition, the bridges have not been serviced in years and the safety of the structure would require a very thorough investigation.
