Sea Point singer and composer Merinda Hill delighted her family, friends and fans with her debut concert Metamorphosis Unveiled at the Wave Theatre on Saturday.
Hill, 46, released her debut album Something Worth To Love two years ago, and she is now gearing up to do more live performances.
She explains the meaning behind Metamorphosis Unveiled.
“The theme of the show speaks of having gone from having almost an identity crisis and trying to fit in with everyone else, but this growth period over the last two years has helped me grow, becoming a performing artist was really a transformative process for me,” said Hill.
“When we started planning this last year it was a small project but then it turned into something. I know about singing but performance wise I was not familiar with this part of the industry and it was a lot of hard work,” she said.
Hill’s show featured a four-piece band, three backup vocalists, two dancers, a violinist and production staff who put together an 80-minute show.
“This is what I envisioned, something extraordinary, something larger than life and it would not be possible without them, the band, the singers, everyone involved,” she said.
She adds that she will continue to collaborate with the production team and that another event is scheduled for later this year.
“I’d like to do a performance at the Artscape, that’s next, but I’ll also be working on my next album as I’ve now had this experience, I’ve learnt more and I want to put some original pieces together to show how I have evolved as an artist,” she said.
