Police are investigating the circumstances around the death of Stellenbosch University student Robyn Pearce, 20, who was stabbed in a Sea Point apartment earlier this month.
Western Cape police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Andre Traut said: “The circumstances surrounding the murder of 20-year-old Robyn Pearce are being investigated by Sea Point police after her body was discovered in her flat in London Road in Sea Point. It is suspected that her cellular telephone, bank card and wrist watch were stolen during the incident. “No one has been arrested as of yet and any person with information which can assist with the investigation is requested to contact Sea Point police on 021 430 3700 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.”
In a response to an Atlantic Sun query, university spokesman Martin Viljoen, said they had learned with shock and sadness of the passing of the BA (Humanities) student, who was from Durban.
Dr Birgit Schreiber, senior director for student affairs, described her death as a tragic loss and said that she will be terribly missed by students and the institution. “She was highly valued in the university’s private ward student organisation and in the cluster groups. We share the most heartfelt condolences with the family during these most trying times. The university has been in contact with Ms Pearce’s parents and has offered the necessary support and counselling services.” The family is planning a memorial service early next year.
