Organisers of the DStv Kyknet Mitchell’s Plain Festival are gearing up for a bumper edition of the 16th instalment of the annual festival, which is hosted in association with Heart FM and the Plainsman.
Cycle of Life has announced the line-up for this year’s festival, which is taking place at the Westridge Gardens from Friday November 29 to Sunday December 1.
Patrons are in for an event of note. Two resident DJs will entertain the crowd on the main stage from 2pm until 5.50pm on the opening day, followed by electrifying performances by Kaapstad Kings, Tashriek Music, Luda G, Young OG and Mercy, Team Kenni, Street Kings Dance Crew, Ziggy and Temple Boys until 11pm.
On Saturday, the 12-hour line-up will include Young MC Da Gospel Rapper, Maranatha Dancers, Ra-ees Adams, Taylor Ohlsson, Peter-John, Iconic Dance Fam, Ekraam Cupido, Swag Step Crew, 021 Rebels, DJ Traviss Michaels, Heart FM Live and DJ Ashton Parenzee.
Cape Town mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis will also take to the stage on the second day.
The riveting entertainment will continue from 11am to 6pm on the final day, with performances from Simply Unique and, Heart & Soul, Vuvu Kumalo, Jarrad Ricketts, The Rockettz New Generation and the Mitchell’s Plain Music Academy Band.
Crowds can also expect to step to the beat at the Sprite Stage, where several deejays will be dropping tracks throughout the weekend, including deejays Austin, Natie, Rollstoel RYBO, Warrick Cloete, TA ASH, Grant Gain, Neeno, Zello and Bubu.
Tickets are selling fast and are available from Shoprite, Checkers, and Computicket. Prices range from R50 for children aged 6 to 12 and pensioners aged 60 and over (with positive identification), to R80 for those aged 13 and older.
Tickets will cost R20 more at the gates. Entry is free to pensioners on Sunday December 1, on presentation of positive identification.
Parents are cautioned against sending children under-12 to to the event without an adult. Entry will be denied to those intoxicated by alcohol or illegal substances.
