No arrests have been made after a shooting at the Higgovale home of criminal lawyer, William Booth, on Thursday April 9.
Mr Booth survived an attempt on his life when two armed suspects wearing surgical masks fired shots at him while he was in his garage, but missed.
Cape Town Central police spokesperson, Captain Ezra October, confirmed the incident and said police are still searching for the shooters.
This is the latest in a series of hit-style attacks on attorneys in the city in the past few
years.
In February this year, a civil attorney from Gardens, Jakes van der Merwe, was shot and wounded in his car.
Police said a car pulled up next to Mr Van der Merwe’s car in Constantia Road and a gunman fired two shots, wounding him in the neck. The suspect fled the scene.
In December last year, Advocate Vernon Jantjies was shot dead in an apparent hit at a petrol station in Mitchell’s Plain.
In October 2018, another prominent Cape Town advocate, Pete Mihalik was shot dead outside Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard school in Green Point.
In 2016, defence attorney, Noorudien Hassan, was killed after being shot several times while sitting in his car outside his Lansdowne home.
