The Fleur du Cap award-nominated production, Tiro’s Toughloop Testimony, will feature at the Theatre Arts Observatory on Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31.

Tiro’s Toughloop Testimony shares the story of overlooked anti-apartheid figures, Onkgopotse Abram Ramothibi Tiro, in this research-driven theatre production.

Tiro’s Toughloop Testimony blends documentary theatre, poetic storytelling, and contemporary reflection, which moves between past and present.

Theatre Arts representative Rowmonique Kayser said this production excavates Tiro’s political consciousness, activism, and ultimate sacrifice, while interrogating the systems that attempted to erase his voice from dominant historical narratives. "It is a work that refuses silence and insists on remembrance, positioning theatre as a site of resistance, truth-telling, and reclamation," she said

This production is written and performed by the acclaimed Ayanda ka Nobakabonwa and directed by Mfundo Zono.

The production earned nominations at the prestigious Fleur du Cap Theatre Awards for Best New South African Script, Best New Director, and Best Performance in a Solo Show.

Tiro’s Toughloop Testimony will feature at Theatre Arts, on the corner of Milton Road and Wesley Street, Observatory, on Friday, January 30, and Saturday, January 31 at 7pm. There will be an additional matinee performance at 2pm on Saturday, January 31.

Tickets cost R120 for everyone and R80 for students.
