The City of Cape Town has commenced with essential road resurfacing in Tamboerskloof, Gardens, Oranjezicht, Vredehoek, Green Point, Mouille Point, Three Anchor Bay, and Bo-Kaap.

Works are underway from 7am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday, but will pause on Friday, December 12, for the builder's break and resume on Monday, January 12.

The project is anticipated to be completed by Wednesday, February 18.

Mayoral committee member for urban mobility Rob Quintas said that the work was part of the City’s commitment to improving the road network.

He said that this way would allow teams to hit the ground running in the new year to ensure the roadworks are completed as early as possible in the new year.

"It is our commitment to improving the quality of our road network through maintenance projects such as these that assist us in our mandate to keep Cape Town moving," he said.

Night work will be required in parts of Tamboerskloof and Gardens on Monday, January 20, and Tuesday, January 21, from 7.15pm until 5am, which may cause noise.
