Young talent shone in the Bugsy Malone production, which featured at the Bishop's College Memorial Theatre.
The Grade 7 boys of the Bishops Preparatory School, along with the girls from St Cyprian’s, collaborated in this production produced by the drama department at Bishops Preparatory. This production ran for five nights, concluding on Sunday, November 2.
Originally born on film, Bugsy Malone is a playful parody of 1920s gangster movies, famously performed entirely by children. This year’s production, directed by Caroline Duck, the head of the Bishops' Prep drama department, celebrated its cinematic roots by blending live theatre with projected film sequences. This bold and creative concept honoured the story’s heritage while showcasing the cast’s versatility on both stage and screen.
Bugsy Malone starred Sam Yazdanpanahi in the title role, with strong supporting characters like Tariq Eskinazi, who played Fat Sam, while St Cyprian’s pupils Cameron Payne played Blousey Brown and Ophelia Ross played Tallulah.
