The aura surrounding this celebrated team is almost magical, igniting the passion of a nation as they make their way to battle.
“I love the Springboks and I have a dream to go everywhere with them, but I need to dream about more money first,” said Justin Marconi from Green Point, while waving his tickets for all to see.
“The spirit and love shared at these games are what make our country so beautiful. Despite everything happening in the world, sport brings us together. The Springboks bring everybody in the world together, and maybe that is why they are fitting World Champions,” he said.
Among the throngs of enthusiastic supporters was Amanda Coert from Rondebosch, attending her very first Springbok game.
Accompanied by her parents, two younger siblings, and grandparents, all proud supporters of the team.
“My family has supported (the Springboks) through thick and thin, through tough times and some of the better times. We are a proud South African family and we will always stand behind them,” she said.
The Springboks are set to continue their journey by travelling to Loftus Versfeld Stadium for their upcoming match against Italy on Saturday, July 5, before heading to Gqeberha for a second clash on July 12.
Following that, they will face Georgia at the Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit. August will see the Rugby Championship kick off at Ellis Park in Johannesburg, with the Australians visiting before returning to Cape Town for a second encounter at DHL Stadium on August 23.
The team then embarks on an overseas leg, heading first to New Zealand for two tests before wrapping up their home fixtures against Argentina at Hollywoodbets Kings Park Stadium in Durban.
With their loyal green army following them across the globe, one thing is for sure: the Springboks will face every challenge with determination and the unwavering support of their fans.
