SOL PLAATJE Municipality executive mayor Martha Bartlett and Speaker Dipuo Peters unveiled a 138-household electrification in Colville and Florianville on Sunday evening.
Municipal spokesperson Thabo Mothibi said the electrification project was funded through the national Department of Minerals and Energy's Integrated National Electrification Programme (INEP) and was carried out by the municipality’s electrical department.
“The connection to the grid covers the informal settlements of Omega, Madeliefe, and Jehovah Witness, which span Colville and Florianville.
“The switching on of the lights sparked excitement and appreciation from the beneficiaries,” he said.
