Manenberg SAPS confiscated this illegal firearm and ammunition and arrested a 32-year-old man on Friday January 10.
Manenberg SAPS arrested a 32-year-old man on Friday January 10 for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.
According to Manenberg SAPS spokesperson Captain Ian Bennett, while police patrolled hot spot areas, they received information about a suspicious person walking on the railway line near the abandoned Heideveld railway station.
“They cornered him and on searching him, they found a 9mm pistol with two magazines containing 43 rounds. The serial number on the firearm has been filed off. The man will be charged for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition and an additional charge of prohibited firearm will be added,” Captain Bennett said.
