Simon’s Town police are investigating a case of murder after the body of a 41-year-old man was found near the Happy Valley Home Shelter on Saturday January 11. Provincial police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk said the body was found at around 8.30am. He said police had received a complaint of an unknown man lying on the gravel driveway outside the shelter. The man was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and white and red Adidas sneakers. He had what appeared to be a stab wound to the left upper side of his body and was declared dead by medical personnel, said Captain van Wyk. Shelter manager Patrick Msakayeya said the man was not one of the shelter’s clients and his body was found about 30 metres from the entrance to the shelter near a piece of ground where the homeless camp. The area, he said, was dubbed Jurassic Park by locals. Captain van Wyk said no arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
