Dr Cleeve Robertson, former CEO of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) was awarded the 2024 International Maritime Rescue Federation People’s Choice award last month and earlier this year he was awarded the IMRF Vladimir Maksimov Lifetime Achievement Award.
Dr Cleeve Robertson, the retired CEO of the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI), was awarded the 2024 International Maritime Rescue Federation (IMRF) People’s Choice award last month.
The announcement was made during the IMRF annual meeting in Thessaloniki, Greece, and marked another milestone in Dr Robertson’s illustrious career.
The award, determined by votes from the global maritime search and rescue community, is testimony to Dr Robertson’s exceptional contributions to the NSRI.
This recognition follows his recent win of the IMRF Vladimir Maksimov Lifetime Achievement Award.
NSRI CEO Mike Vonk praised Dr Robertson's legacy, saying, “Dr Robertson’s recognition as the winner of the IMRF People’s Choice Award, following his recent IMRF Vladimir Maksimov Lifetime Achievement Award, is a testament to his exceptional dedication to NSRI’s vision of making South Africa a water-safe nation. Dr Robertson said he was humbled and grateful for the award.
“Being acknowledged and recognised by your peers, colleagues, and volunteers is a great honour and a fulfilling reward for my humble contribution to rescue and preserving life. Thank you to everyone who voted.”
