Mafikizolo is on the line-up for the festive event.
The City has announced the artists who will be performing at the Festive Lights Switch On event, taking place on the Grand Parade on Sunday December 1 from 4pm.
The line up includes Mörda, Mafikizolo, Ouma Sarie, Dr Victor and the Rasta Rebels as well as Fagrie Isaacs and Candice Thornton,
There will also be performances by 3 Tons of Fun, Wynand and Cheree Strydom, Blackbyrd, and the classic moves of the Old Gentleman Dancers.
DJ Caycee, Carletheia, Ouma Sarie, and Meneer Cee will also make an appearance.
Comedians Alan Committie and Lunga Tshuka will be the MCs, and the top three finalists from the City of Cape Town’s new comedy competition, will also have a chance to perform their sets.
The closing date for entries for the comedy festival is Friday November 15. The top ten will be selected for a live “laugh off” at the V&A Waterfront on Saturday November 23.
To enter the competition, submit a one-minute stand-up comedy video about “people of hope” on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or X (Twitter).
Videos must be original, family-friendly and not contain any offensive content or political and religious themes – just good, clean fun.
Entrants must tag the official Cape Town Festive Lights account, @CTFestiveLights, and use the hashtag #PeopleOfHopeLaugh #CTFestiveLights. It’s not necessary to submit the entry on all platforms.
The Festive Lights Switch-On in Adderley Street is a free event, and all are welcome. Visitors are urged to arrive early for the best experience.
