Mitchell’s Plain Primary School staff thank grandparents for their support and prayers.
Mitchell’s Plain Primary teachers treated the school’s grandparents to lunch and entertainment to say thank you for their support and prayers.
The special event was held at Westridge High School’s hall on Friday October 4.
Last year the teachers formed an Outreach Project Committee to help their pupils’ families with food parcels during the school holidays.
They also hosted a boeka (breaking of the fast during Ramadaan) programme - feeding up to 2 000 people.
Teacher Weedat Abrams said there was a great need in the community.
She said they wanted to treat the grandparents who were primary caregivers.
Principal Alan Frenchman thanked the grandparents for their service, support and prayers in raising the children of Mitchell’s Plain Primary School.
“We know that it is not easy all of the time but I want to thank you for being a part of my life and for helping in the community,” he said.
“We want to thank you for being our children’s grandparents and Mitchell’s Plain Primary School’s grandparents, who grew up with me during my tenure at the school,” he said.
Mr Frenchman thanked the elderly for their prayers and for keeping the children on the right path.
