The Holy Trinity Church in Kalk Bay will celebrate its 150th anniversary on Sunday, September 29, with a special service to mark the historic occasion. In the lead-up to the event, False Bay Echo will share some interesting historical facts about the church. The church’s Sanctuary Windows represents The Holy Trinity. Churchwarden Mike Edwards said the east window is the work of Pearce and Cutler of Birmingham and was set up in 1924 for the Jubilee for £220. Mr Edwards said the left-handed lancet, showing St Peter, commemorates Lieutenant Thomas Douglas Robb of St James who was killed in World War I.The centre window portrays Jesus' reign. It recalls Canon James Baker, the first rector of Holy Trinity from 1877 to 1896, and his daughter Annie, the wife of Canon Hogarth, an able incumbent from 1923 to 1932.The window on the right of St Paul commemorates Sir Albert Browne, honorary organist for 20 years from 1893 until 1923. Sir Albert was Colonial Treasurer from 1901 to 1907 and held other senior posts in the civil service.
