The five accused in the AKA and Tebello Motsoane murder case were refused bail at the Durban Magistrate Court on Wednesday May15. The court said it would be reckless and irresponsible to release the applicants out on bail.
The five men arrested in connection with the murder of Kiernan Jarred Forbes (AKA) and Tebello Motsoane (Tibz), among other charges, appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday for judgment on their application for bail.
Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, 30, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, 35, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, 21, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, 36, and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande, 29, appeared on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, murder (Forbes), murder (Motsoane), unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and five counts of attempted murder. The state also added two further charges of money laundering, said Natasha Ramkisson-Kara, regional spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA).
In February 2023, Mr Forbes and Mr Motsoane were shot and killed outside the popular Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, just outside the Durban CBD, said Ms Ramkisson-Kara.
“On Wednesday the five accused were denied bail, with the court saying that it would be reckless and irresponsible to release the applicants out on bail,” she said. “The men will remain in custody and the case was remanded to August 8, 2024, for further investigations.”
