Art on the promenade kicks off new year

Anthony Lionel, from Pinelands, was featured for the first time at the art fair with his oil paintings.

The Kunye Art Foundation held their first art exhibition of 2024 at the Sea Point promenade last Saturday and will host another exhibition on Saturday February 3.

Last year the foundation had three art events at the promenade with one cancelled due to inclement weather.

There were 18 local artists at the event and they sold four artworks and six prints.

The foundation plans to have this event once a month until the winter rains arrives.

“Our artists showed the diversity that Kunye strives for, giving visitors a great variety to choose from. We had a few overseas visitors taking art home with them,” said Ingrid Wallach, the managing director of Kunye Art Foundation.

“We have experienced, professional artists as well as emerging artists and what happens is that they interact and learn from each other which is important to us and to them to see them grow and to uplift each other,” said Ms Wallach.

Ingrid Wallach lives in Hout Bay and is the managing director of Kunye Art Foundation.

Victor Engelbrecht from Durbanville and Tania Rudman from Kraaifontein came to display their crafts.
