Police are investigating after a Muizenberg man was shot dead in a local pub.
Two men walked into the Smoking Croaker, in the Capricorn Beach Complex, on Tuesday night October 19 and shot Lance Truter, 34, three times in the head before fleeing, according to the pub’s owner, who did not want to be named.
He said Mr Truter was a regular and he did not know why he was killed.
The shooters are still at large, according to provincial police spokesman Captain Frederick van Wyk.
Mr Truter, who owned a car-sales-and-rental firm, was remembered in a memorial service on Saturday October 30.
His Facebook page noted that his father had also died recently. Mr Truter’s mother, Lynne Truter, posted a message, saying how proud she was of him and that he had been taken from his family when they needed him the most.
A friend, Asheeqah Ismail, wrote: "You used to tell me every week to appreciate the little things in life, how we all care for one another is important.“
The owner of the pub said they had beefed up their security since the incident.
