My Clean Green Home back at park

The City of Cape Town’s My Clean Green Home pop-up has moved back to Green Point Urban Park.

The exhibit gives visitors a chance to walk through a full size model of a net zero carbon home and experience what life could be like living in one.

The compact home is the epitome of the City’s vision for a more climate resilient and carbon neutral future.

The pop-up was based at Green Point Urban Park in March before moving on to Vangate Mall. It will now remain permanently in the park, which is a living example of a sustainable and inclusive space in an urban environment.

The City’s mayoral committee member for energy and climate change, Phindile Maxiti, said this future-fit home contains a range of ideas, strategies, technologies and behaviours that we could all benefit from.

“As part of the City’s actions against climate change and to make Cape Town stronger, we are aiming to be carbon neutral by 2050. The City has committed that all new buildings in Cape Town will be net zero carbon by 2030.”

The exhibit is open to the public until Saturday June 5 at Green Point Urban Park, from 10am to 4pm. Strict access control and Covid-19 protocols will be in place to ensure the safety of all visitors and staff.
