Two suspects are behind bars in connection with car break-ins.
Combined efforts by SAPS, private security companies, neighbourhood watch members and traffic officials led to the arrest of a number of law-breakers over the weekend.
On Thursday October 29, two men were arrested in connection with car break-ins.
The first was a 36-year-old man whom police arrested in Woodside Road, Tamboerskloof, for attempting to break into a parked car, while the second was a 29-year-old who had smashed the side window of a car parked at Solan and Wembley roads, Gardens, around 5pm.
Around 11.30am, Avenue Response Team’s control room had received an alert about a break-in in Clydebank Road, Green Point, along with a description of the suspects, which led to the arrest of two men.
With the assistance of the reaction teams and a member of the Green Point Neighbourhood Watch, the men were cornered and detained at the Quarry in Strand Street. Stolen items were recovered by the officers on the scene and SAPS were called to arrest the two men.
Also on Thursday October 29, Avenue Response Team tactical reaction units detained a man who had been seen jumping over the wall of a house in Cavalcade Road, Green Point. The officers had been waved down by a resident and within minutes, they had three officers at the property, with the suspect detained. All the stolen items were recovered and the suspect was handed over to SAPS.
On Sunday November 1, at about 4.30pm, traffic officer Clint Dane Brand, arrested a 36-year-old man for drunk driving in Ebenezer road, De Waterkant.
