The Sea Point Central Improvement District (SPCID) held its annual awards last week to honour its staff and safety partners in Traffic and Law Enforcement who have taken pride in their work.
Chief operating officer of the SPCID, Heather Tager, commended the officers for their dedication during the high peak of the pandemic with zero absenteeism regardless of the number of challenges the officers faced travelling to and from work.
“The area during the lockdown period had serious challenges but the teams continued to push and deal with every incident regardless how frustrating it was or the risks that it placed on their own safety.”
She said while they still have a number of challenges in the area, everyday a team of around 20 staff members wake up in the early hours of the morning, commute for hours and arrive at work on time to keep residents safe.
“The Sea Point CID team would also like to thank those external services who are always available for us at a drop of a hat and they, too, form an integrated part of our security plan,” she said.
Ward 54 councillor Nicola Jowell thanked the SPCID for recognising the hard work and commitment of their members. “There is nothing like the recognition and appreciation of those who have gone above and beyond to inspire them and others to continue,” she said.
