Miss South Africa Natasha Joubert this week visited five schools in three provinces, talking to young women about social media pressure, standing up to peer pressure and dispelling the myths regarding body hair.
Joubert visited school girls from the Bergvliet High School in Cillie, Lawson Brown High School in Gqeberha, Ridge Park College in Durban, Queensburgh Girls’ High School in Durban and her very own school in Centurion, Hoerskool Eldoraigne.
Joubert said she was all about inspiring young girls and and she shared with them her own body positivity journey, telling the learners she’d been a tomboy growing up, underscoring the pressure of “fitting in”.
She said she had been helped to find her authentic self by family and friends.
“Society had deemed that women should not have body hair and so it is easy to fall prey to judgement regarding this. I wanted the young women to know, first of all, about safe shaving practices.
“I hope that I helped empower them to make the choices that make them, and nobody else, happy.”
Joubert launched her First Shave campaign for Intuition South Africa, and she introduced the Amka range to school girls during her tour.
Dylan Hall, Intuition’s Brand Manager, said the roadshow exceeded their expectations.
“Natasha’s message resonated deeply with so many girls. Through Natasha and her Natasha Joubert Collective, we aim to empower girls to follow their intuition and make decisions that truly benefit them. We are committed to supporting them every step of the way.”
