I recently flew to Durban for the GLAMOUR Book Club Women’s Month Edition and had the privilege of staying at the Protea Hotel: Fire & Ice! by Marriot, Durban uMhlanga Ridge. Centrally located in the heart of uMhlanga, just a stone's throw from Gateway Shopping Centre and a quick Uber from the beach, it’s the perfect spot for a getaway.
Upon entry, you are welcomed by a warmly lit foyer that makes the space feel cosy and inviting, immediately setting the tone for your stay. As I walked in I was greeted by the friendly staff who instantly made me feel at ease. The hotel’s aesthetic was giving sea, sun and surf with a laid-back vibe reflective of the Durban beaches, my hotel room was a bi-loft apartment engulfed in natural light, complete with a small kitchen area, two bathrooms and a bed fit for a queen.
