Based in Bollywood, Pratibha Singh Baghel has lent her voice to many songs in movies.
Indian singer and actress Pratibha Singh Baghel will perform in the show Symphony of Love on Friday January 27 at the Artscape Opera House, at 8.30pm.
Pratibha will perform with the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) and backed by a 10-member international band featuring some of India’s leading musicians.
This is Pratibha’s first visit to South Africa and the concert will present audiences with a curated collection of popular old film classics, current Bollywood hits and ghazals, with music directed by Indian flautist Ashwin Srinivasan and the CPO conducted by Brandon Phillips.
Pratibha is blessed with the ability to effortlessly sing a broad range of genres, including hits of the greats such as Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhosle, Jagjit Singh, Mehdi Hassan and Ghulam Ali.
The band comprises Akhlak Hussain on harmonium; Arshad Khan on esraj; Ashwin Srinivasan on bamboo flute; Darshan Doshi on drums; Manoj Kumar on dholak; Ojas Adhiya on tabla; Sangeet Haldipur on piano; Sanjoy Das on guitar and Sheldon D'Silva on bass.
South African multi-percussionist John Hassan will join the band for the Cape Town performance.
