Zara Yazbek,13, from Sea Point, who trains at the Juanita Yazbek Dance Studio, has entered the 10th South African International Ballet Competition (SAIBC). This is the first time she is taking part in the competition, which will be held at the Artscape Opera House from Monday July 24 to Wednesday July 26. Organisers say they are delighted to announce 60 in-person entries with several international participants from South Korea and Germany joining their South African counterparts. The gala finale on July 26, at 7pm will showcase performances by the medalists and top scorers while guest artists from Cuba, Portugal and Mzansi Ballet in Johannesburg will wow audiences with divertissements and pas de deux from Swan Lake Act lll and Esmeralda.
