It shouldn’t take Hollywood stars contracting a virus to remind us that Covid-19 is still a thing, but, with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson’s announcement today that he and his family contracted the coronavirus several weeks ago, discussion has reignited.
A visibly somber and slightly hoarse Dwayne Johnson told his followers that despite being incredibly cautious, he and his wife and children had all tested positive for Covid-19.
Johnson joins British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Idris Elba, Tom Hanks and Usain Bolt, among the ranks of celebrities who have contracted the virus.

Thankfully, The Rock and his family have overcome Covid-19, but what can we learn from one of Hollywood’s biggest stars developing the virus?
Anyone can catch the coronavirus
Let’s just repeat the thrust of the headline: The Rock caught the coronavirus. That’s Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. The hardest worker in the room. The man who calls his gym The Iron Paradise. His cheat days look like our weekly food shop. He’s arguably the biggest movie star on the planet and the ‘Rona came for him. If he and his family can get it, so can you. Repeat after us: you are not stronger than The Rock, or the coronavirus.
You should wear a mask
Masks are becoming politicised in many parts of the world, as The Rock points out in his post, but the majority of right-thinking people continue to wear them. Why? Because the inconvenience of wearing one is a small price to pay if it saves lives. And even if it turns out that they are ineffective, so what? You wore a mask for a while. No big deal.
Covid-19 is still very much a thing
Who remembers way back in March when Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson became the first high profile Hollywood stars to catch Covid-19? Seems like a long time ago doesn’t it? Since then we’ve had a global lockdown, a summer (of sorts), The Olympics was cancelled. So was the Expo. And Gal Gadot. But in all that time, we didn’t find a vaccine. Which means, despite us all being bored of it, the coronavirus is still a thing. (See point 2).
The Rock has some sound advice for you
Having been through the coronavirus, The Rock has some first-hand experience of what helped him and his family. He summed it up in a handy list format, so we’ll leave you with that:
Stay disciplined.
Boost your immune system.
Commit to wellness.
Wear your mask.
Protect your family.
Be strict about having people over your house or gatherings.
Stay positive.
And care for your fellow human beings.
