Last Wednesday the South African Jewish Board of Deputies hosted ward councillors from the City of Cape Town at the Cape Town Holocaust and Genocide Centre.
After a light lunch and an introduction by Cape SAJBD chairperson, Tzvi Brivik, the group was split into two and taken around the two museums with their respective directors, Gavin Morris and Heather Blumenthal.
Tyla Dallas, the marketing and legal officer for Cape SAJBD, said councillors from various political parties had attended and that the tours offered a chance for the councillors to engage with the past and the present of the Jewish community’s rich history in South Africa.
